More on financial mess

I was getting worried about the economy and my job in nov and sec. There was alot of talk about state reductions and layoffs. When the governor released her budget in mid sec it seemed as though we are safe for the time being.

I am a little flummoxed with the proposition of bailing out a failing auto industry, a borderline criminal banking industry AND millions of speculative homebuyers. My tax money and more importantly my sons future are wrapped into this bailout. I could get behind this if it were more than the government purchasing bad paper - if there were a more ambitious WPA or CCC like program.

Went to my first meeting as a building code TAG member. Bright sunny day - won't be too long until planting time. Krausen started bubbling into the airlock of my primary today - I'm not going to worry about until tommorrow.

Val 2

Having a really hard time disiplining the boys a lately. Orion is constantly whining and consistently disobediant. He's at a stage where he doesn't focus. Oliver is blantantly rebellious. It's hard to know when and where to didiplinr these two and I fear a various times that I am spoiling or being over bearing. I'm sure both are true at any given time.

I wonder how the boys memories will judge this period.

Valentines

Benson Lake again this weekend. Spent Friday in Poulsbo, visiting the places that we used to habit. I still feel like it is the place that I was born into the nortwest from. Fort ward, winslow, the house on viewcrest.... It's where it met Orion.

Refinanced the house on Sat. The interest rate seemed to good to pass and I need to get moving on the house renovation. 4.5 percent with ¹discount point.

I feel it extremly blessed or lucky that my foilbles are mainly within my mind. I have thankfully missed most of the harms that I could truly inflict on another person.

onward

Pretty detailed dreams last night. Sandy and I were on a road trip in CA. Got weird when her family showed up and we started setting up for a parade. Work was kinda packed. Two meeting took out half of my day. Haveing difficulty staying focused.

Apparently the dryer is on the fritz. Spent most of the evening cleaning the laundry room for the dryer repair man. Mouse is silent tonight so far. Hope he's one of the many traps we set last night. Found a good online deal for airfare to nashville last night. Jumped on it - we're going in April. This should cover our yearly trip home.
So. Ingaguration day. Sort of disappointed with NPR and general media fervor over obamas presidency. I look forward to the next four years and have hopes (and fears) for the next fours, don't get me wrong. I'm just a little put out by the assumption that ALL of the country feels the same. Even when my candidate won I was acutely aware that half of the country did not agree.

Still more callenges with the mouse. Sandy went to bible study and the boys and I quickly went to walmart. Orion was pretty lucid tonight. Compared the differences between two toys.

Mlk weekend

Nice weekend, went to Children's museum. Spent some time digging in the side yard to create space for a few raised beds. Also put up three PVC pipes and some construction plastic in the back yard to create a cloche. Put a small thermo in the soil. Tried to use Emt clips to secure the plastic to the PVC but it did not work to well. I'll monitor the soil temp to see when I can plant.

Went to benson lake on Sunday night. Lots of fun playing wiu. Orion was suprisingly good at bolwing and a few things in the brain developement academy game.

Very foggy this weekend. Relatively cold too. I did finally bottle one bottle of the ale that I have been brewing. Primary fermentation is complete. Stopped by a brew supply store. They did not sell premixed worts-I may be able to make the mash work or at least make a wort with hops.

Orion still a little troubling - a little goofy. Has problems with theory if mind and some language concepts.

Sore throat - pretty severe.

Was I ever good at anything?

I'm not sure if it's the weather or my typical January depression, but I have been focusing in on deep sense of unrest over the past few days. It's not a envious streak (which I am also prone to) it is more a lack of value.

Starting out, I felt that comparitively I was very successful. Given where I had started it made sense. Now I don't know. I am torn between my concious choice to live a simpler life and a feeling that I may be becoming to complacent and letting life pass me by.

Didn't get up in time to go to 9am church- ended up going to the late service.

Ran errands with Orion. Ate taco staxks for dinner. Both boys were unruly loud and obnoxious -pushed every single button we had.

After the boys went to bed, I made my first batch of mr. Beer. It's a west coast pale ale. Only took about an hour- we'll see what it's like in a few weeks. I hope it's drinkable before lent.

Date night

Had a short plan review meeting to talk about some of the hypothetical code issues we come up against. Mortgages are getting pretty low. We're looking at refinancing.

Sandy and I went out to sushi and mini golf. Dinner was fun- good food.

Pacific northwest winter in full force this year. 18" of snow over Christmas and now many inches of rain. Can't complain. The snow was fun and there have been lots of sunny days this winter. Much better than last year.

Orion and Ollie are really becoming friends now. They are beginning to play together. More Ollie looks up to his big brother. They are so cute. I doubt they will be this cute again.
